Stages VisAVis workshop en Italie

L’hôtel Vis A Vis dirigé depuis sa création en 1961 par la famille De Nicolai et les Editions Vis A Vis dirigées depuis leur création en 1987 par Nathalie Luyer ont choisi de réunir et partager leur savoir faire pour proposer des stages de photographie, dans un lieu dont la beauté a déjà enchanté des écrivains célèbres comme Lord Byron ou Andersen qui décrit Sestri Levante, comme « la baie des fées ». Le nom de ses deux baies « Baia delle Favole » et « Baia del Silenzio » ne sont-ils pas à eux seuls inspirateur d’images, dans l’une des plus charmantes stations balnéaires de la côte ligurienne.

Longue bande de 350 km suivant la côte de Vintimille (frontière franco-italienne) jusqu’à La Spezia, la Ligurie enserrée entre mer et montagne est célèbre dans le monde entier pour la douceur de son climat. A partir de Gênes, la Riviera Levante se révèle plus pittoresque , bordée de petits ports, villages en balcon sur la mer, oliveraies et jardins en terrasses. Au printemps l’air est embaumé du parfum des fleurs de citronniers, orangers, amandiers ou encore du mimosa et du basilic… D’origine nordique et non latine, les Ligures possèdent leur propre accent, mais leur forte identité cuturelle italienne a contribué de manière très active à l’unification de leur pays au milieu du XIXè siècle avec Giuseppe Garibaldi son principal acteur. A 50 km de Gênes, entre Portofino et les Cinqueterre, se niche Sestri Levante, sur une très fine bande de terre prise entre deux golfes et un promontoire rocheux. L’hôtel Vis A Vis est situé entre ciel et mer, en position panoramique sur la corniche avec une vue sur la Méditerranée.

> POURQUOI

Depuis plusieurs années, Nicolò Filippo Mori, le représentant de la troisième et nouvelle génération de la famille Mori propriétaire de l’Hôtel Vis A Vis sur la Riviera en Italie, est passionné de photographie. Il souhaitait donc faire de son hôtel, le cadre idéal pour partager sa passion.

Depuis presque 10 ans, Nathalie Luyer Directrice Fondatrice des éditions Vis A Vis basées en France à Paris, enseigne également la critique d’image à des étudiants ou des passionnés de la photographie en quête de repères. Elle souhaitait donc pouvoir développer cet enseignement dans un lieu où la vue sur la mer donne un horizon plus vaste à l’inspiration, le temps du stage.

Ce vis-à-vis entre la France et l’Italie pour ces stages consacrés à la photographie contemporaine, associe deux pays aux cultures latines riches en personnalités qui jalonnent l’histoire de la photographie. De Jacques-Henri Lartigue à Gianni Berengo Gardin, Henri Cartier Bresson à Mario Giacomelli, John Batho à Franco Fontana, de Sarah Moon à Paolo Roversi ou encore Pierre & Gilles et Toscani.

C’est également un vis-à-vis entre des connaissances acquises (techniques et culturelles) et la confrontation de nouvelles connaissances par le partage de l’expérience de chacun.

La durée totale du stage est de 9 jours. L’ensemble du stage est réparti en 3 cours différents avec 3 intervenants différents. Chaque journée comprend 9 heures de cours. Chaque stage compte 9 participants désirant perfectionner et faire évoluer leur regard. Que vous travaillez en couleur, noir & blanc ou numérique. Les cours sont donnés en anglais où en français selon les participants.

A la fin du stage, chaque participant repart avec son propre site. Ce stage vous permet donc d'acquérir un outil de communication immédiatement fonctionnel.

> Contenu des cours

Reportage / Portrait / Mode / Fine arts (5 jours)

Chaque personnalité regarde et partage son point de vue sur votre travail et ensemble, vous avancez afin de faire évoluer votre regard et vous laisser une substance qui continuera à progresser après le stage. Ce cours vous permet donc d'être confronté(ée) à de grandes personnalités du monde de la photographie afin de vous situer vous-même.

Critique de l’image (1 jour + 6 soirées)

Nathaie Luyer confronte le regard de chacun à ceux des autres : avec vos différences culturelles, mais aussi les références de grands photographes qui influences et jalonnent l’histoire de la photographie. L’objectif étant de vous aider à trouver la voie qui vous est propre et votre expression photographique la plus appropriée aussi bien dans le fond que la forme.

Une sélection est faite à partir de vos photos réalisées sur place et celles que vous aurez apportées, afin de pouvoir créer votre propre site au cours suivant. Ce cours vous permet donc d'avoir un regard critique extérieur sur votre travail et d'en faire l'analyse et le bilan.

Numérique (3 jours)

Si vous désirez comprendre les bases de l’imagerie numérique et souhaitez améliorer la qualité de vos prises de vues et de vos tirages ; ce cours au delà des notions fondamentales, s’appuie sur de nombreux exemples pratiques qui vous permettront de répondre à vos questions, souvent restées sans réponses. Pour plus d’efficacité, il est demandé à chaque participant d’apporter son boîtier numérique personnel.

  • Etude des notions fondamentales de la photo numérique & fonctionnement des appareils photo numériques
  • Paramètres de prise de vue
  • Le traitement des images en post-production & quels fichiers pour quels tirages ?
  • Création de votre propre site avec le logiciel NVU (disponible sur Mac et sur PC), à la fin du stage. Préparez votre texte de présentation ainsi que votre biographie avant le stage, afin qu'ils soient prêts lors de ce cours. Ce cours vous permet donc de créer votre propre site internet, qui pourra ê tre mis en ligne le 9ème jour du stage.

VisAVis workshop in Italy

Owned and managed by the De Nicolai family since 1961, the Vis A Vis Hotel and Vis A Vis Publications, founded and directed since its creation in 1987 by Nathalie Luyer have pooled their expertise to offer photography workshops in Italy in a place of such beauty that has, in the past, captivated many famous writers such as Lord Byron or Hans Christian Anderson who described Sestri Levante as a "bay of fairies". Do not the bays' very names -"Baia delle Favole" and "Baia dello Silenzio"- conjure up images, against the backdrop of one of the most charming resorts along the Ligurian coast?

In the north west of Italy, the Ligurian coast stretches for 35 kms between Ventimille on the French-Italian border and La Spezia. Enclosed between mountains and sea, Liguria is famous throughout the world for its mild climate. From Genoa, the Riviera Levante becomes fabulously picturesque, with its small harbours, villages perched above the sea, olive trees and sloping terraced gardens. In the springtime, the air is scented with lemon, orange and almond blossom or the fragrance of mimosa or basil... Northern not Latin in origin, Ligurians have their own distinctive accent but their strong cultural Italian identity proved to be an active bonding force in uniting their country in the mid-19th century with Giuseppe Garibaldi playing the leading role. 50 kms from Genoa, between Portofino and Cinqueterre, lies Sestri Levante, gently nestled away on a thin strip of land enclosed between two gulfs and a rocky promontory. The Vis A Vis Hotel is located in a panoramic site between sky and sea on the corniche commanding the Mediterranean.

As a passionate photographer for many years now, Nicoḷ Filippo Mori, Director and third-generation owner of the Vis A Vis Hotel wanted to make his Italian Riviera establishment the ideal, even idyllic setting to share his passion for the art.

Nathalie Luyer, Founder and Director of Paris-based Vis A Vis Publications has for 10 years also been teaching image criticism to students or amateur photographers in search of references.

She wanted to be able to extend her teaching experience in a place where the view overlooking the sea offers a wider horizon for inspiration for the length of the workshop.

As a vis-à-vis between France and Italy, the workshops will bring together both French and Italian Latin cultures rich in celebrities that have influenced the history of photography. From Jacques-Henri Lartigue to Gianni Berengo Gardin, Henri Cartier Bresson to Mario Giacomelli, John Batho to Franco Fontana, Sarah Moon to Paolo Roversi or Pierre & Gilles to Toscani.

The workshop will also provide a bridge between acquired technical and cultural skills and confrontation with new competencies derived from the shared experience of all.

In all, the workshop lasts for 9 days and is divided up into 3 different courses with 3 different facilitators. Each day provides 9 hours of tuition. Each workshop is attended by 9 participants who aim to hone and heighten their vision, whether they work in colour, B&W or digital. Lessons are in English or French, depending on those taking part.

At the end of the workshop, each participant will leave with his/her own website. The course is designed for participants to acquire an immediately operational communication tool.

Reporting / Portraiture / Fashion / Fine Arts (5 days)

Each personality will look at your work and share his point of view with you. Together, you advance so as to heighten your vision and plant the seeds which will continue to grow after the workshop. The course will therefore enable you to dialogue with leading celebrities from the world of photography, helping you to see just where you are along your development track.

Image criticism (1 day + 6 evenings)

Nathalie Luyer confronts each person's approach and vision with that of the other participants, with catalytic cultural differences thrown in, but also against the references of major photographers who have influenced and landmarked photography. The aim is to help you find your own particular way of expression with your own particular photography style, from the point of view of both form and content.

A selection is made from your own photos on site and those you have brought along, with a view to creating your own website during the following section. This course will, therefore, enable you to have a critical outside viewpoint on your work which will give you sharper analysis and heightened assessment.

Digital photography (3 days)

If you want to understand the basics of digital imaging and are eager to enhance the quality of your shots and prints, this workshop, over and beyond fundamental notions, is based on numerous practical examples which will answer your (often unanswered) questions.

  • Basic notions of digital photography & how digital cameras work
  • Picture parameters
  • Post-production processing & which files for what type of printing
  • Creating your own website with NVU software (on Mac & PC) at the end of the workshop. Prepare your presentation text and biography before the course. This workshop will enable you to create your own Internet website which can go online on the 9th day of the course.

Each workshop is run by leading figures from the world of photography who will share their technique, aesthetic approach and sensitivity with the students.

I nomi delle sue due baie, “Baia delle Favole” e “Baia del Silenzio”, sono fonte d’ispirazione per l’immaginario, in una delle più affascinanti stazioni balneari della costa ligure.

Con un lungo territorio di 350 km che segue la costa da Ventimiglia (frontiera franco-italiana) fino a La Spezia, la Liguria, circondata da mare e monti è famosa in tutto il mondo per il suo clima mite. A partire da Genova, la Riviera Levante si rivela più pittoresca, bordata di piccoli porti, villaggi affacciati sul mare, uliveti e giardini a terrazza. In primavera l'aria è impregnata dal profumo dei fiori di limone e arancio, mandorlo e mimosa e di basilico… D'origine nordica e non latina, i Liguri possiedono una propria identità territoriale e linguistica, ma la loro forte identità culturale italiana ha contribuito in modo molto attivo all'unificazione del loro paese a metà del XIX° secolo, con Giuseppe Garibaldi suo principale protagonista. A 50 km da Genova, tra Portofino e Cinqueterre, si colloca Sestri Levante, su una sottile striscia di terra racchiusa tra due golfi ed un promontorio roccioso.

L’Hotel Vis A vis è collocato tra cielo e mare, in posizione panoramica, in una cornice con vista sul Mediterraneo.

Da molti anni Nicolò Filippo Mori, direttore dell’Hotel Vis A Vis sulla Riviera Ligure in Italia, è appassionato di fotografia. Desiderava dunque fare del suo Hotel, il quadro ideale per condividere la sua passione.

Da quasi 10 anni, Nathalie Luyer direttrice fondatrice delle edizioni Vis A Vis con sede in Francia a Parigi, insegna anche critica dell’immagine a studenti ed appassionati di fotografia in cerca di riferimenti.

Desiderava dunque avere la possibilità di sviluppare quest'insegnamento in un luogo in cui la vista sul mare offre un’orizzonte più ampio all'ispirazione, il tempo del workshop.

Questo “vis-a-vis” tra Francia e Italia, con workshops dedicati alla fotografia contemporanea, associa due paesi dalle culture latine ricche in personalità che hanno segnato la storia della fotografia. La durata totale del seminario è di 9 giorni, suddivisa in 3 sezioni. Ogni giorno comprende 9 ore di corso. Ogni workshop conta 9 partecipanti che desiderano perfezionare ed evolvere il loro sguardo, sia che lavorino a colori, bianco e nero o digitale. I corsi sono in inglese o in francese secondo i partecipanti.

Alla fine dello stage, ogni partecipante riparte con un proprio sito. Questo stage vi permette di acquisire un mezzo di comunicazione immediatamente funzionale.

Reportage/ Moda / Ricerca artistica (5 giorni)

Ogni personalità osserva e condivide il suo punto di vista sul lavoro degli allievi, ed insieme avanzano per fare evolvere lo sguardo di ciascuno e lasciare una sostanza che continuerà a progredire dopo il seminario.

Critica dell'immagine (1 giorno + 6 serate)

La critica confronta lo sguardo di ciascuno con quello degli altri : gli allievi del corso con le loro differenze culturali, ma anche i grandi fotografi, riferimenti ed influenze che segnano la storia della fotografia.

Fotografia digitale (3 giorni)

Questo corso si rivolge agli appassionati di fotografia che desiderano approfondire le basi dell’immagine in digitale e migliorare la qualità di ripresa e di stampa. Oltre alle nozioni fondamentali, la formazione si avvale di molti esempi pratici. Al fine dell’efficacia, si chiede ad ogni partecipante di portare il proprio apparecchio digitale personale.

  • Studio delle nozioni fondamentali della fotografia digitale & Funzionamento dell’apparecchio digitale
  • Parametri di ripresa & Quali archivi per quali stampe?
  • Il trattamento delle immagini in post-produzione
  • Creazione del vostro sito con il sistema NVU (disponibile su MAC e su PC), alla fine dello stage. Realizzato con le fotografie scattate sul posto e quelle che avrete portato. Preparate un vostro testo di presentazione e la vostra biografia prima dello stage, affinchè siano pronti al momento del corso. Il vostro sito potrà essere messo on-line il 9° giorno dello stage.

Ogni workshop è diretto da personaggi importanti del mondo della fotografia che condividono con gli allievi la loro tecnica, il loro senso estetico e la loro sensibilità.
